Our monthly Grand Prix Tournament races take place the second Thursday of each month, they are run in knock style. Every driver competes in a Qualifying Race, the qualifying race is used solely to seed the heat races. After all Qualifying Races are run we move to the Heat Races, the winner of each Heat Race advances to the Final Race, racers that did not win move on to the Last Chance Qualifying Race. The winner of the Last Chance Qualifier moves on to the Final Race.
The winner of the Final Race takes home a cash purse which is half of the total entry fees for the night, e.g. 10 drivers entered, pays $100 to the winner.
The highest placed amateur driver (racer who has not previously won a tournament) in each tournament will be awarded with the Mentor Motors Driver of the Race cash purse of $25.
Each race includes a practice and qualifying session then a race.
All tournaments will be "blind", the track will be announced in advance but the car being raced will not be announced until the drivers meeting.

This month's Thursday Night GP Tournament are headed to NASCAR country and racing the Roval at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is one of those tracks that mixes high speed with some technical sections, the track requires precise car control. The cars being raced will be revealed in the drivers meeting but here's a hint. All of them race or have raced this track in real life.
Each month we host a Time Attack Challenge, every driver must drive the same car at the same track. The driver who sets the fastest lap by the end of the month wins a $100 prize package.
For September we are racing in Japan at the Okayama Circuit which hosted the Formula One Pacific Grand Prix in 1994 and 1995, both were won by the legend, Michael Schumacher. The car being used will be the Porsche 911 GT3 R. The current real World lap record is 1:10.218 by Ayrton Senna in a Williams F1 car and the current GT3 lap record is 1:29.089 set in a Ferrari 296 with Japanese hot shoe, Shinichi Takagi.
Racers are always asking to race against our Race Director, so let's do it!
The first Wednesday of each month simply come in and say that you want to race the Race Director. If you win you win a Yellowstone Grand Prix prize package.
Track and cars being raced will be the choice of the Race Director.
Race fee is our normal $12 per race.
