Growing up in a racing family, then over 30 years racing and 22 years as a race instructor himself, Mike’s life is racing. 10 years ago he found sim racing, it was a way to compete while at home and at a fraction of the cost. Since that time, sim racing has evolved to a point where it is as close as you can get to real racing but without the expense. While being fun and casual it can also be very competitive, it requires tremendous focus and using high end, direct drive systems it is a vigorous workout.
The skills developed while sim racing translate to actual racing for those that race or want to race real cars, drivers around the World have gone from being fast sim racers to factory backed real race car drivers. Mike’s three sons included; each started in a racing sim and now of them races real race cars, each with many class wins. David and Alex have taken their sim experience with high downforce cars and applied it to F4 cars that usually require hundreds of hours of testing before being fast, both were immediately quick their first time in the cars and run at the front of the grid regularly. Additionally, Alex honed his drifting skills on a racing sim for years before every getting into a drift car which he now competes in.
